Understanding Dimensions
Saree Size & Fit Guide
Unlike western wear, a saree is a universal garment. Because our handloom pieces are entirely unstitched, they naturally adapt and drape beautifully across all body types and sizes.
Standard Saree Dimensions
Every Utkal Aditri handloom saree is woven to traditional specifications to ensure a rich, generous drape with elegant pleats, regardless of your height or build.
Saree Length
5.5 Meters
The standard length allows for a classic drape with 5-7 front pleats and a long, graceful pallu (shoulder drape) suitable for women of all heights.
Saree Width
1.1 - 1.2 Meters
The width (or height of the fabric) is designed to drop perfectly to the floor for most standard heights (up to 5'10") when draped from the waist.
Unstitched Blouse Piece
Almost all of our handloom sarees come with a matching, unstitched blouse piece woven directly into the end of the saree. Before wearing, this extra fabric is simply cut off and sent to your tailor.
- Length: 0.8 to 1.0 Meters (80-100 cm)
- Total Fabric: Including the blouse piece, the entire woven fabric you receive will be roughly 6.3 to 6.5 meters long.
- Styling: The generous 80-100cm cut provides enough fabric to stitch anything from a standard short-sleeve blouse to a modern elbow-length or full-sleeve design for sizes up to XXL.
Questions About Fit?
If you are exceptionally tall or require a larger blouse cut, we recommend double-checking the individual product description, as some heavy bridal silks are woven with an extra-generous 1-meter blouse piece.
